How do I ship parcels from China to Singapore with Cargo2SG?
Already shopping on Taobao, 1688 or other Chinese e-commerce sites? It takes five steps:
- Sign up for a Cargo2SG account. Register online for free (accounts are hosted on our partner platform taobao2sg.com), or WhatsApp us if you need help.
- Shop on Taobao (or any Chinese platform) and have the seller deliver to our Guangzhou warehouse, with your User ID in the address.
- Submit a shipping order in your User Center and declare the contents and value of your parcels.
- Pay the shipping fee in SGD.
- Receive your parcels at your Singapore address, or self-collect.
See the full step-by-step guide.
How is sea freight charged?
- By volume, not weight — Length × Width × Height in metres = CBM. Examples: 75 × 56 × 42 cm = 0.1764 CBM, billed as 0.18 CBM; 80 × 70 × 80 cm = 0.448 CBM, billed as 0.45 CBM.
- Low minimum: you can ship once your parcels reach 0.1 CBM — no need to accumulate 1 CBM.
- Transit: about 13–15 days from our Guangzhou warehouse.
- Rates: S$2.00 per 0.01 CBM for 0.10–0.40 CBM, getting cheaper as volume grows (see the rate table).
- GST (9%) applies on the declared value; we collect it and pay it to Singapore Customs. Examples (S$100 declared value, so GST S$9): 0.18 CBM costs S$36 + S$9 = S$45, plus S$25 home delivery (or free self-collection); 0.45 CBM costs S$83 + S$9 = S$92, with free home delivery.
- Rates change often — WhatsApp us for the latest sea freight rate. Details in our sea freight guide.
How is air freight charged?
- No first-kg surcharge — the first kilogram costs the same as the rest.
- Normal and sensitive goods have different rates; submit them as separate orders.
- Weight is rounded up to the next kg (11.4 kg → 12 kg).
- Dimensional weight = L × W × H (cm) ÷ 6000. If it exceeds the actual weight by more than 10 kg, we charge the average of the two; otherwise the excess is waived and we charge the actual weight. Most forwarders charge the higher of the two.
- Parcels over 35 kg or longer than 1.5 m carry an S$60 surcharge (charged by the airline, not by Cargo2SG) and must go via the sensitive goods channel.
- Normal goods arrive in about 4–6 days; sensitive goods in about 14 days. Try our shipping calculator or read the air freight guide.
What counts as "sensitive goods"?
Items with batteries or electronics, magnetic items, liquids, gels and powders (e.g. cosmetics, ink, toner), processed food (no meat), branded goods, CDs/DVDs, adult toys and personal medications. Power banks can only go by sea. Never mix normal and sensitive items in one order — the whole shipment may be charged as sensitive or rejected by the airline.
Do you consolidate and pack my parcels?
Yes, for free. We receive your parcels, consolidate and pack them at no extra charge. For air parcels, the chargeable weight is the sum of each parcel's individual weight — not the final packed weight.
How long can my parcels stay in your warehouse?
Parcels are stored free for 30 days in our Guangzhou warehouse, and for 3 days at our Singapore collection points. See our storage policy for fees after the free period.
I don't have a Chinese bank account. Can you pay Taobao sellers for me?
Yes. Registered users get our free Alipay "Pay for You" (找朋友代付) service — no service fee, Alipay's real-time exchange rate and same-day processing for requests before 4 PM. How it works.
Do I have to declare the value and description of my goods?
Yes. You must declare the true purchase value in SGD and accurate item descriptions for your goods so the correct GST is paid to Singapore Customs. Under-declaration is illegal and can lead to delays, confiscation and heavy fines. Read our declaration policy.
How do I receive my parcels in Singapore?
We deliver to your door — free for sea orders of 0.41 CBM and above or air orders over 15 kg (otherwise S$25 for sea or S$4 for air). You can also self-collect from our partners' collection points in Clementi, Kaki Bukit, Woodlands, Jurong East.
